Options for eco printing
The large format industry is slowly evolving to offer environmentally friendly solutions that actually work. Banner materials are usually made with evil PVC and reinforcing fibers that do not biodegrade or recycle. Just tested a new material for a fun job
The first test panel for a full stage floor printed on 0.25" MDF
Test print of the ICC profile white point edit - great results!
We have a fun opportunity to print a full stage floor for a local theater. Instead of them painting the floor, or us printing adhesive back vinyl that would need lamination and be applied to the temporary floor, we simply printing directly on 0.25″ MDF with the UV flatbed printer. The color of the MDF is quite yellow and a bit dark. So I measured the color of the board and used that LAB measurement to edit an existing ICC profile for another media. After making a copy of the original media profile in our printing software, I imported the edited ICC.
The results were great! The color looked as if I’d made a custom ICC from scratch and the board fed through the machine like a dream. I love these fun challenges.
